I'm thinking about joining Stella & Dot...

(potential stylist inquiry)
I'm thinking about joining Stella & Dot after seeing one consultant in my area on facebook. She is a friend of a friend. I remember seeing the Stella & Dot magazine in her home and thinking WOW! i need to get online and check that jewelry out. i didn't have any idea it was this kind of company.

either way, i'm really interested in joining. if i do join id really like to jump in head first and try to make something of it. id love to put out mini lookbooks out to neighborhood moms (are these too expensive to be sending out in a kind of mass effort?) and attach a flyer with information on parties or just purchasing. i also thought about getting in touch with local boutiques and setting up booths (i know you can only do this a number of times a year at a certain place, right?). i'm not sure what kind of incentive i could give them but i'm sure some type of discount, jewelry, or profit?? i'm not sure...

i have a friend who is in a company similar to this and i know how important it is to have a great upline. i want to get in with some girls who really have some experience and great ideas..

i'm a college student, and i DO work, and i struggle to pay for lots of things even living from home. i DO have free time on weekends and afternoons that i could dedicate. id love to even just make a few extra hundred dollars a month.

any advice anyone could give would be great! i'm from oklahoma, i'm not sure if there's a lot of consultants here.

an interview with Vivian Sachs - fashion photographer

What is your favorite subject?
Photography and fashion of course!

How long have you done this?
My intrigue for cameras sprouted when I discovered my father's Canon film camera for the first time - I was 7. I began shooting as a hobbyist in 2001 and in September 2007, after a business meeting with celebrity photographer Markus Klinko (star of Double Exposure on E!), I took things to the next step and really started pursuing fashion photography more. I hosted my first semi-solo exhibit back in November 2009 in San Francisco - (semi because I wanted my brother to showcase some of his work as well - he does film photography exclusively with vintage cameras). I will be in another exhibit this coming May at the Mezzanine in San Francisco with several other artists/photographers and am planning a solo exhibit later in October 2010.

Do you do the makeup/hair/styling for your shoots?
No. I have a great team of make-up artists and an awesome hair stylist that always works with me on my shoots! I love them! I wish I knew enough about make-up to do it but I barely know how to put make-up on myself ... haha. That's why there are make-up artists and hair stylists! We always joke around at shoots when we ask each other how things look and the reply is always, "You're the expert. You know what you're doing!" There's a great trust between us all and we all feed off each other's creative juices!  I thank Pauline Le, Stella and Dot stylist for providing us with the gorgeous stella & dot jewelry, making these photos a stunning success!

Been in any fashion mags?
Not yet but I've had photos published in the New York Times back in February 2009. There were no photos published but I was mentioned in the Victoria Beckham interview that was published in Glamour Magazine in this year's March issue. One of these days soon I hope to be published in a fashion magazine!

Tell me something fun & quirky about you!
Haha, let's see... I am easily amused. If you leave me alone, I could probably gather anything close to me and make something out of it. My friends always make fun of me for being the endlessly lit lightbulb. I'm always coming up with new ideas and new projects to pursue and can't wait to tell people about it. I also started making jewelry recently (http://shootme.weebly.com/the-boutique.html) to keep me busy when I'm not shooting or dreaming up new photoshoots.

an artist Meets stella and dot

An amazing photographer has discovered stella & dot.  Let me introduce you to Vivian Sachs.  She has such an eye for style, vintage-modern, and flirty-rocker-chic with a bohemian twist!  I absolutely adore her work!!  I love what her team of stylists have done with the model's makeup, hair, and of course accessories!

Vivian tells us, "We always joke around at shoots when we ask each other how things look and the reply is always, "You're the expert. You know what you're doing!" There's a great trust between us all and we all feed off each other's creative juices!  I thank Pauline Le, Stella and Dot stylist for providing us with the gorgeous stella & dot jewelry, making these photos a stunning success!"

from a Curious Style Lover

Hello,
I came across an ad on Facebook today for Stella & Dot and am completely intrigued by this. I've honestly never heard of the company before. Anyway, I started doing some searching online and came across your blog (I'm new to blogs believe it or not). I would love more information on the company and what it has to offer.

My husband will probably kill me for taking on one more business venture. I work full-time at ...... But I sold Pampered Chef years ago and liked doing that part-time.

So that's my story, don't know that this is something I could even tackle right now, but am very curious. Especially since I've not heard of it before and a lot of people in the area sell the Silpada and different jewelry lines like that. I'm always interested in the not so hyped, if that makes any sense. Thank you for your time.

Dear Elise
Yes, please send me the Look Book. And anything else you can tell me about becoming a stylist. Like I said- very intrigued, but sure my husband will have to be won over. Are there stylist currently in the surrounding area that you know of?
Thanks,
Curious Style Lover

I can relate. My hubby wasn't too excited about me to have an 'excuse' to spend! But he is really happy that I bring in extra $$$ working PT. Also, we earn free jewelry/biz supplies, so you get to keep your profits in your pocket.

I don't personally know any stylists in your area, but I have over 100 stylists on my team. AND I def. don't have anyone in your state, yet! If you haven't heard about it in your area, you are safe in knowing it hasn't taken off. Do you want to be the one that introduces SD to your community?? Someone in your circle will, it might as well be you!

This in a nutshell, is how it all begins...with an inquiry, a Look Book, and a dream about what you might be able to do with Stella & Dot.  We all have different stories about how we came across SD.  I found it online on a chat forum and joined without having seen the line, in person.  I was the 1st stylist in MT.  And I haven't looked back!
